Authorities say a Milwaukee alderman who was killed in motorcycle crash was driving drunk.
Authorities say 56-year-old Joseph Dudzik died after his Harley-Davidson motorcycle hit some construction barricades on the city's southwest side about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. He was thrown about 75 feet. Dudzik died at a hospital early Friday.
Amid an outpouring of tributes from colleagues Friday, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office said Dudzik had a blood-alcohol level of 0.137 percent. Wisconsin's legal limit is 0.08 percent. He died of blunt-force injuries including a significant head injury. He was not wearing a helmet.
Dudzik was elected to the Milwaukee Common Council in 2002 and represented the 11th District. He worked for the city's public works department more than 20 years.
He's survived by his wife and two sons.
