Suwannee County, FL : Branford man dies in car crash on U.S. 27 and 77th Road on Tuesday morning, February 2, 2016

A Branford man was killed Tuesday morning when he lost control of his car in Suwannee County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Donald Peale Huntzinger, 48, died at the scene, according to an FHP press release.

The accident happened about 8:53 a.m. on U.S. 27 and 77th Road. Huntzinger was eastbound on U.S. 27 driving a Smart Fortwo. Stephen Hacht, 45, of Branford, was driving west in a 2012 Chevrolet 3500 pickup.

FHP reported that Huntzinger crossed into the westbound lane, running Hacht off the road. Huntzinger then drove off the road and began to overturn.

The undercarriage of Hacht’s pickup hit a culvert. Hacht was not hurt, FHP troopers said.
