Torrance, CA : Two of the three men killed when two cars collided on Monday, November, 6th 2017

Two of the three men killed when two cars collided over the weekend near the SouthBay Pavilion mall in Carson were identified Monday as brothers.

Jonathan Isaiah Baxter, 23, and Christopher Wayne Baxter, 26, were found dead at the scene of the crash, said Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter. Both men were from Carson.

The two-car collision occurred just after 2:20 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Del Amo and Avalon boulevards. A man in the other vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said they aren’t yet sure how and why the crash occurred, but it was clear from the position of the vehicles that one broadsided the other.

“We’re fairly sure one party ran a red light, just by the fact that it’s an intersection,” Carson sheriff’s Lt. Scott Aikin said. “We’re looking for video of it, now that it’s Monday and businesses are open.”
