A driver crashed through a power pole and caused thousands of power outages in east Charlotte Sunday morning.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the wreck occurred just after 3 a.m. in the 9000 block of East W.T. Harris Boulevard. Nearly 5,000 households were without power for some time Sunday due to the wreck.
Officers say alcohol was not a factor.
Duke Energy reported widespread outages for some time but power was restored just before 5 a.m.
Police say the driver received minor injuries. Officers have not said what caused the crash.
