LISBON, OH : Semi crash remains under investigation on Monday, March 20th 2017
What caused a 2001 Mack Truck to overturn on state Route 154 in Middleton Township this week remains unknown, while snow is to blame for a wreck involving another commercial truck on state Route 9.
According to the highway patrol reports, David Lee Dreussi, 56, Scio, was westbound on state Route 154 in Middleton Township at 2:17 p.m. Monday and overturned while negotiating a turn and struck a guardrail.
Donald Kohan, who was eastbound on state Route 154 and witnessed the crash, told troopers that he saw the trailer begin to lean when it was about 150-yards ahead of him and as the vehicles passed one another the truck and trailer overturned. Kohan said there was nothing in the road and no other vehicles were involved. He said Dreussi did not appear to be speeding.
Dreussi told troopers he has driven commercial vehicles off and on for 25 years and that he drove that particular truck six days a week, and on that road nearly five days a week, the report stated.
The crash caused damage to roughly 150-feet of Ohio Department of Transportation guardrail. ODOT responded to the crash and provided traffic control while the patrol investigated.
Dreussi was driving for JMW Trucking Services of Canton and was not injured in the crash. He was cited for failure to control. JMW owners also responded to the scene and provided cleanup of debris.
On Wednesday, the patrol investigated a commercial crash that involved a 2016 Volvo VNL64T.
Kevin Michael Henry, 27, Altoona, Pa., was driving the commercial semi northbound on state Route 9 in Butler Township at 1:39 p.m. Wednesday and lost control on a patch of snow and went off the right side into some bushes. The truck also sheared two Ohio Edison utility poles, which brought down another Ohio Edison pole and struck a mailbox. The impact also knocked over a road sign.
The Perry Township Fire Department reported that roughly 100 gallons of diesel fuel leaked from the truck as a result of the crash. The Columbiana County Emergency Management Agency was notified.
Henry was cited for failure to control.
