Brookville ,OH :Paje Heindl, 18, and Emily King 17 killed after car crash Friday night ,August 28th 2015
Family and friends gathered to remember two young women killed in a car crash Friday night.
Paje Heindl, 18, and Emily King 17, were killed in the crash at Providence Road and Wolf Creek Pike. Two others are hospitalized.
At the vigil for his daughter, James King had an important message to share.
“I just wanted to let them know that speed does kill. You can’t imagine the grief your family feels. You can think you know, but believe me you don’t know. So kids everywhere, when you get your license. Slow down and obey the speed limit. If you don’t, you’re parents are going to be in the same place that we’re in,” said King.
Emily was one of four people inside a car Friday night when it crashed. The Brookville senior’s friend, Paje Heindl, died at the scene. The two others are still recovering.
“Emily was Emily. She’s one of a kind,” said King.
Brookville senior Michael Lander lost a friend.
“Emily’s locker was right next to my locker. I talked to her every day,” said Lander.
King’s locker has turned into a memorial. Several post-it notes placed on its door each with a thought and memory.
“Everytime she would be by her locker she always had a big group of friends by her locker that I’d have to say, “excuse me” to get to my locker and I was always like, “Emily, you got too many friends around here,” said Lander.
With many of them and more holding each others hands, praying for her, and the other victims.
“I wish it would have never of happened. But I’m glad that everyone is coming together at this situation to support each other. and rely on each other,” said Lander.
Witnesses told troopers they saw the car lose control and thought the driver over-corrected and veered into four posts.
