Montpelier, VT : Proctor woman dies in car crash on Saturday , 3rd September 2016

Vermont State Police say a Proctor woman is dead after the car she was driving went off the road and hit a garage in Rutland Town.

Police say the 1998 Honda Accord driven by 52-year-old Kathy L. Johnson was headed south on West Proctor Road around 11 p.m. Saturday when it began to leave the right side of the roadway. Johnson lost control as she tried to bring the car back onto the roadway, police said, and it went off the other side of the road.

The car went over a lawn before hitting a two-car garage, causing significant damage to the garage and two vehicles inside, according to police. No one at the nearby home was injured.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the crash remains under investigation.
