Kenton ,DE : 21-year-old Kevin Perry killed after SUV hits culvert and struck tree while riding on Monday ,May 11 2015

Delaware State Police say a woman was killed when the SUV she was riding in hit a culvert, became airborne and hit a tree near Kenton.

It happened about 1:35 a.m. Monday on Sudlersville Road. Troopers say 21-year-old Kevin Perry of Maryland was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe east when he failed to make a curve.

Police say the Tahoe left the road, hit a sign with the passenger side mirror, continued through a grassy ditch, hit a culvert and became airborne.

Officers say the Tahoe stopped when it hit a tree.

A passenger in the Tahoe, 21-year old Dymond Dantzler of Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say Perry was taken to a hospital for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The crash is under investigation.
