Man injured in Boone County crash

A 61-year-old man was injured Monday morning when his car ran off the road and struck a tree near Verona, Boone County Sheriff’s deputies said.

The man was driving westbound on U.S. 42 about 9:20 a,m, when he hit a patch of ice and ran off the road near Cleek Lane, said Tom Scheben, sheriff’s spokesman. The Chevrolet Cavalier struck a tree.

The man was trapped in the car and had to be freed by firefighters. He was flown to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, Scheben said.
