Orange County, FL : Bicyclist injured after being hit by a Winter Park police officer Thursday afternoon, April 28, 2016

A 68-year-old man was hospitalized after getting hit by a Winter Park police officer Thursday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Officer Edison Williams was stopped in the parking lot of the Aloma Bowl bowling alley near Aloma Avenue and Balfour Drive around 3:30 p.m., FHP Sgt. Kim Montes said.

The 44-year-old officer was preparing to pull out of the parking lot and make a right onto Aloma Avenue, which left the sidewalk in front of the business blocked, records show.

Paul Miller was riding a bicycle on the sidewalk along the street and tried to go around the front of the officer's 2013 Ford Taurus when he was struck, troopers said.
