Albany , NY : Two people were killed in a crash on Highway 20 east of Goldfish Farm Road on Friday Night, November 28th 2014
Two people were killed in a crash on Highway 20 east of Goldfish Farm Road, just outside the Albany city limits, at about 6:25 p.m. Friday.
The names of the man and woman who died in the crash were not released Friday night as their families had not been notified.
Both of the deceased were in a passenger car travelling eastbound, which was stopping to turn into a driveway on the north side of the highway, said Oregon State Police Sgt. James Halsey.
That vehicle was rear-ended by a pickup and pushed into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a westbound minivan, Halsey added.
More than one person from the minivan also was injured and transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
Highway 20 was closed in both directions at Goldfish Farm Road Friday night. Troopers on the scene anticipated an extended closure.
The case remains under investigation, but drugs or alcohol don’t appear to be factors.
“At this point in time, we don’t believe there’s any impairment at all,” Halsey said.
It was unclear whether weather was a factor, but there were downpours in the Albany area early Friday evening.
