Florence,AL : Woman indicted for crash that killed Florence doctor on September, Tuesday 5th 2017
A woman has been indicted on a manslaughter charge and accused of being on drugs when she was involved in a crash that killed an Alabama doctor.
Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly tells Al.com that 27-year-old Tiffany Balentine faces a manslaughter charge in the crash that killed 86-year-old Robert Long. He says she was on a “laundry list of drugs,” including meth, marijuana and Xanax.
Authorities say the crash happened as Long was leaving a gas station in Florence. The front end of Balentine’s eastbound 2008 Chrysler collided with the driver’s side of Long’s southbound car. He later died at a local hospital.
Long was an accomplished doctor who practiced in Florence and operated a free clinic for the homeless in Vernon.
It’s unclear if Balentine has an attorney.
