Charlotte , NC : 22 -Years old person was killed and drive was charged after he was struck by a car in Charlotte's Steele Creek area on Tuesday, january 13th 2015

A man is dead after he was struck by a car in Charlotte's Steele Creek area on Tuesday, according to police.

Jeremy Tyrell Barnes, 22, was hit and killed by 2005 Subaru Impreza, driven by 36-year-old Jonathan William McCallister, on John Price Road around 7 p.m.

Witnesses told police that McCallister was driving at a high speed, passed a vehicle on the double yellow line, drove onto a curve, crossed into the oncoming lane, and that's when he hit Barnes. Barnes was attempting to cross the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say McCallister was taken to CMC-Pineville with minor injuries. He was released and taken to the Mecklenburg County Jail where he was charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving, and driving left of center.
