Reno police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a car on the north side of town.
Police say the 28-year-old Reno man was hit in an intersection at North McCarran and Socrates shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday. Several witnesses told investigators he appeared to be looking at a cellphone while walking in the crosswalk when the light turned green for traffic traveling on North McCarran.
The driver of the passenger car that hit him told police he didn't see the man in the dark.
Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was at fault and that no charges will be filed.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his family.
