Brockton,MA : Driver charged after four-vehicle collision, rollover in Brockton on December, Sunday 10th 2017
A Brockton man is facing charged after police say he was involved in a four-vehicle rollover crash in Brockton on Sunday.
Antonio Araujo, 26, of Brockton is being charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, failure to stop at stop sign, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of personal injury, Brockton Police Lt. David Dickinson said.
At about 11 a.m. Sunday, Brockton Police responded to a four-vehicle crash at the corner of Longwood and Hillberg avenues.
A compact silver 2006 BMW ran a stop sign while traveling east on Hillberg Avenue, Dickinson said.
The BMW struck a white 2008 Jeep Cherokee that was crossing the intersection heading northbound on Longwood Avenue, causing the Jeep to rollover.
Upon arrival, police found the Jeep overturned on its side with the drivers side door facing up, just inches from the house at 151 Hillberg Ave.
The 33-year-old Brockton woman who was operating the Jeep was taken to Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital with injuries, Dickinson said.
After colliding with the Jeep, the BWM continued down Hillberg Avenue and stuck two parked unoccupied vehicles from behind, cause and front and rear end damage to the 2013 Toyota and 2004 Ford, Dickinson said.
The driver fled the mangled BMW on foot before police arrived.
However, a witness to the crash identified the driver of the BMW as Araujo, Dickinson said.
Police did not pursue the suspect, Dickinson said.
