Glendale, AZ : Two people dead at the scene of a highway crash on Saturday evening September 6th 2014
Authorities in Glendale say two people found dead at the scene of a highway crash had also been shot.
Glendale police say an off-duty firefighter witnessed a car going east on the Loop 101 Saturday around 7:30 p.m. when it veered off and crashed near 51st Avenue.
The firefighter told police that a man and a woman inside the car were dead.
Police now say 29-year-old James Tucker, of Kingman, and 28-year-old Shantel McCormick, of Surprise, each had suffered gunshot wounds. A gun was recovered from inside the vehicle.
An autopsy to determine the cause of death is expected to be completed Monday.
Investigators closed an eastbound frontage road between 51st and 59th avenues for several hours but the freeway reopened by 11 p.m.
