Council Bluffs, IA : 67-year-old man killed in a single-vehicle accident in Council Bluffs on Friday evening, March 31, 2017

A 67-year-old Council Bluffs man was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Council Bluffs on Friday evening.

According to preliminary investigation by Council Bluffs police, William D. Snyder was traveling west on 23rd Avenue by South 35th Street around 11:35 p.m. when he lost control of his 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager van and struck a power pole, sheering it off. Upon arrival, rescue personnel found Snyder deceased. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The van sustained heavy front driver side damage, coming to rest in a field to the west of the roadway. Power was knocked out for a time for several businesses in the area.

The Council Bluffs Police Special Operations is still investigating the accident.
