CAMP CREEK, WV : Fatality confirmed in I-77 crash near Camp Creekon Thursday, 16th August 2018

Investigators with the West Virginia State Police confirmed Thursday evening that a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 77 near Camp Creek had resulted in one fatality and two people with critical injuries.
The crash occurred approximately 3:42 p.m. when a R and L Carriers tractor double trailer traveling south on I-77 around the 23 mile marker collided with two West Virginia Parkways Authority (WVPA) vehicles that were parked on the side of the roadway along with three WVPA employees who were standing near these vehicles, according to a statement issued by the West Virginia State Police Turnpike detachment.
One of the WVPA workers was deceased and two were in critical condition, according to investigators. The crash is being investigated by Cpl. C.I. Fields. Cpl. C.N. Workman and R.A. Marsh were reconstructing the crash. The tractor-trailer's driver was not injured. Names of the people involved were not being released Thursday.
The crash's cause was pending, according to investigators. Southbound traffic was routed into one lane while first responders worked at the scene, but vehicles were backed up all the way to the Flat Top and Ghent Exit.
