TAMPA, FL : A Lakeland man was seriously injured in a wrong-way crash on Saturday, June 17, 2017

A Lakeland man was seriously injured in a wrong-way crash early this morning on Interstate 75, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Rogelio Ramirez, 29, of 5248 County Line Road, is in serious condition in Tampa General Hospital.

According to the FHP, Ramirez was driving north in the southbound lanes of I-75 south of Gibsonton Drive. Troopers believe he entered the highway at Exit 240 in his 2015 Hyundai Accent.

Meanwhile, Omar Lloyd Carty, 42, of Brandon was driving a 2001 Freightliner semi-truck south on I-75. FHP said that despite Carty’s attempt to get out of Accent’s way, the car collided wit the rear passenger side of the trailer.

Carty was not injured.
