New york, NY : Pedestrian died after walking out into the path of a car on Staten Island on Monday evening, Oct 5, 2015

Police say a 61-year-old man was killed after walking out into the path of a car on Staten Island.

They say the pedestrian suffered severe head trauma following the accident Monday evening.

He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Police say it happened at the intersection of Bay Street and Hylan Boulevard.

They say the driver of the car was entering the intersection when the pedestrian stepped into its path.

Police say the 73-year-old driver remained on the scene.

They identified the pedestrian as Steven Turetsky of Staten Island.
