Amador County, CA : 64-year-old woman dies, two injured in three-car wreck involving police officer on Highway 16 in Plymouth on Monday night, March 28, 2016

A California Highway Patrol officer patrolling an area of Highway 16 near Plymouth was involved in an accident Monday night that killed a 64-year-old woman.

Around 11 p.m., the officer was driving along Highway 16 and saw a passing car going at a high rate of speed. A report about the incident states the officer was preparing to turn around and make a traffic stop when his patrol car collided with a car going the same direction.

The impact pushed the two cars into opposing traffic, colliding with another car.

The driver of the first car, Alice Suzanne Goudie, died at the scene. The driver of the second car and the officer have moderate injuries.
