BIRMINGHAM, AL : Fuel spill leaves I-59 northbound lanes closed after crash on Friday, 1st March 2024

All lanes of I-59 have reopened.

A crash on I-59 North has caused a tractor-trailer to overturn, leaving both lanes of the interstate closed.

According to Birmingham Fire and Rescue, crews responded to a crash on I-59 North and Roebuck Exit North at 2:41 a.m. Crews arrived and found a tractor-trailer overturned with the driver trapped and an SUV that had collided with the driver. Both drivers were removed from the vehicles and taken to UAB Hospital for their injuries.
