Corsicana, TX : An adult male suspect was injured in a crash on May, Saturday 6th 2017

An adult male suspect was injured Saturday morning after crashing his car into a tree while fleeing from Corsicana police.

According to Chief Robert Johnson, police responded to an intoxicated person call Saturday morning at La Quinta Inn & Suites in the 2000 block of Regal Dr. in Corsicana.

The suspect fled from police in a silver Ford Explorer on Interstate Highway 45 and a pursuit followed.

The suspect was allegedly driving all over the road, almost hitting guard rails on both sides.

The suspect then left the highway by driving down a hill through the grass to Phife Road and police lost sight of the vehicle.

When they approached the SUV it was smashed into a tree.

The suspect was taken by air medical to a Dallas hospital and is in critical condition.

Preliminary investigation uncovered drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
