Warsaw, IN : Three people were killed and two others injured in a crash at U.S. 30 On Thursday, August 18th, 2016
Three people were killed and two others injured after the driver of a van pulled into the path of a semi at the intersection of U.S. 30 and State Road 19 in western Kosciusko County Thursday evening.
The driver of the van, Samita Sood, 37, of Fort Wayne, told police she was driving east on U.S. 30 and turned north on on State Road 19 after seeing the flashing yellow left turn signal at the intersection. She apparently didn’t
see a westbound UPS semi that slammed into her vehicle.
Sood and one of her passengers, Subhash Sodd, 68, of Elmhurst, New York, were taken to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment of serious injuries. A second passenger, Navedita Bhambhani, 46, of Forest Hills, New York had
to be extricated from the van. She was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital in critical condition. The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department learned she passed away from her injuries Friday morning.
Two other passengers, Ramesh Chand, 70, of Elmhurst, New York, and Subhash Sood, 69, of Fort Wayne, were declared dead at the scene.
Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team members are still investigating the crash. F.A.C.T. team members were also assisted at the scene by the Etna Green Fire Department, Bourbon Police Department, Mentone Police
Department, Lutheran Kosciusko E.M.S., and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
