St. John, KS : Teen killed, two other people injured after car hits dead deer and rolls in Stafford County on Monday night, December 26, 2016
A Haysville teenager was killed and two other people were hurt after the car they were in hit a dead deer Monday night in Stafford County and then rolled.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said the driver, Alexandra M. Wheeler, 18, died in the crash, while passengers Christopher D. Reed, 30, of Wichita, and Allure N. Riley, of Larned, were injured.
The Patrol said Wheeler was driving a 1999 Saturn two-door east in the 200 block of Northeast 140th Street – about 12 miles east of St. John – at about 8:30 p.m. when it struck a dead deer that previously had been hit by another vehicle. Wheeler lost control, and the car entered the ditch before rolling several times.
Reed and Riley both were taken to Great Bend Regional for injuries. Wheeler and Reed were wearing seat belts, but Riley was not, the Patrol said.
