TAMPA, FL : Tampa man, 27, dies in crash Wednesday along Veterans Expressway on Wednesday, 10th July 2019

A 27-year-old Tampa man died from injuries he received when he slammed into a concrete barrier after passing another vehicle on the Veteran’s Expressway late Wednesday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jorge Soto Triana was killed in the 9:40 p.m. crash near the Waters Avenue exit.

The crash occurred as Triana was driving a 2006 Toyota north in the center lane. He had just passed a vehicle when he abruptly steered into the inside lane to avoid striking another vehicle, the Highway Patrol said.

Triana overcorrected, crossed the highway and hit the driver's side of a 2014 Audi driven by Amanda Rogers, 32, of Tampa, the Highway Patrol said. Rogers was not injured.
