A Campbell man was killed after his motorcycle collided with another car late Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. Around 11:18 a.m., CHP officers responded to a crash on northbound Highway 85, just south of Highway 82 (El Camino Real). According to the CHP, Larry Gene Baughman, 62, was riding his 2012 Honda motorcycle at an unknown speed when traffic began to slow in front of him. Baughman was not able to stop his motorcycle in time, and he collided with the back of a 2005 Toyota minivan, driven by 65-year-old Cupertino resident Robert Ziegler, Jr. The CHP said Baughman suffered major injuries in the crash. He was rushed to Stanford Hospital, and he later died. Officers are investigating the cause of the crash. However, the CHP stated alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
