A woman died after being pinned under a utility terrain vehicle in Antrim County.
Antrim County sheriff's deputies responded to the UTV crash at 8:40 p.m. Sunday on a gravel portion of Satterly Lake Road and Satterly Lake Trail in Mancelona Township, according to a release. A UTV is an all terrain vehicle with more passenger and storage space.
The driver, Stevie Ray Prottenger, 20, of Burt, told deputies he was driving a 2004 Yamaha 660 Rhino east on Satterly Lake Trail and attempted to make a left turn, losing control of the UTV and flipped it onto its right side, trapping his passenger, Kelsey Grace Liepa, 26, of Walled Lake, underneath, the release states.
Liepa was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and suffered a serious head injury. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Prottenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, was uninjured.
Deputies continue to investigate the crash.
