Huntsville, TX : A 38-year-old New Waverly man suffered life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle accident on Tuesday, August 8, 2017
A 38-year-old New Waverly man suffered life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle accident near the interstate over the weekend.
According to the Huntsville Police Department, the man was traveling west on the State Highway 19 flyover to access Interstate 45 South when his 1995 white Dodge Avenger left the roadway at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday morning. He was pinned underneath his vehicle when it rolled down the embankment and had to be rescued by emergency responders.
He was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. An update on his condition was not available Monday.
“The accident is still under investigation and it is not known at this time what exactly caused the vehicle to go off the roadway,” Lt. Jim Barnes said Monday. “There were alcoholic beverage containers found at the scene and a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, so that could have played a factor in the accident.”
No one else was reportedly in the vehicle.
