A driver and two children in an SUV survived a rollover crash Tuesday afternoon on I-75 just south of Gainesville, according to state troopers.
Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Tracy Hisler-Pace said the crash happened at 3:45 p.m. at mile marker 378 in Paynes Prairie. Witnesses told troopers a tire blew on the SUV.
Fire rescue personnel said the SUV rolled several times before landing in a prairie, which is surrounded by a swampy area.
Bystanders helped the driver and two children escape the SUV before it sank, troopers said.
All three were taken to UF Health in Gainesville with non-life-threatening injuries.
A tow truck will have to extract the SUV because it is somewhat submerged.
