NASHVILLE, TN : Investigation underway after pedestrian hit by car in north Nashville on Monday, 19th September 2016

Police are searching for answers after a pedestrian was hit by a car in north Nashville.

The man was walking across the street at the intersection of 18th Avenue North and Clarksville Pike when he was hit at around 11:35 p.m. Monday.

The victim has life-threatening injuries and is being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A public works truck responded around 3:30 a.m. to clean up the road where the person was injured.

It's unclear if there were any witnesses. Police have not released a description of the vehicle that was involved.

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to call the Metro Nashville Police Department.
