Las Vegas, NV : Motorcyclist critically injured in desert crash south of Las Vegas early Saturday morning, July 9, 2016
A motorcyclist was critically injured early Saturday morning after a crash in a desert area north of Jean.
The motorcyclist crashed around 7:15 a.m. in the desert approximately 215 feet north of Knight Ranch Road and 6 miles east of Las Vegas Boulevard, according to Metro.
Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicate the Kawasaki was traveling south through the desert area, when the operator attempted to jump the motorcycle across a ravine. The motorcyclist landed south of the ravine, at which time the operator was ejected. The motorcyclist traveled about 30 feet and came to rest. The motorcycle continued about 46 feet and fell onto its side.
The motorcyclist was airlifted to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
This collision remains under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department accident investigation section.
