Beaverton, OR : Driver ejected from car injured in a crash in Beaverton on Wednesday afternoon, March 11, 2015

A driver not wearing a seat belt was thrown from his car and seriously injured in a crash in Beaverton on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to the scene at Southwest 106th and Canyon Road at 3:42 p.m.

Investigators said a driver making a turn from Southwest 106th onto Canyon Road drove in front of another vehicle on Canyon Road and his car was hit on the driver's side.

Police said the impact popped open the door of the first car and the driver was thrown out. A Beaverton Police Department spokesman said his injuries would have likely been minor had he been wearing a seat belt.

There was no immediate update on the man's condition. The other driver was reportedly not seriously injured.

Canyon Road was expected to be closed until at least 5:30 p.m. while investigators remained at the scene.
