Gainesville, FL : An Archer man was killed in a high-speed crash on May, Wednesday, 24th 2017

An Archer man was killed in a high-speed crash during heavy rain in Levy County Wednesday afternoon.

Miguel Comas, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on U.S. 41 near the Alachua County line, according to a Florida Highway Patrol media release.

At about 1:45 p.m., he was driving a 2007 BMS 750i south “at a high rate of speed” and went into the northbound lane to pass a tractor-trailer and another car, the release states. He went back into the southbound lane and lost control of the car as it traveled through standing water.

The BMW began to spin counterclockwise onto the shoulder of the road, crossed a culvert and began to overturn, troopers said. As it rolled over, the car hit a tree. It came to rest upside down on the south shoulder.
