NORTH ADAMS, MA : Motorcycle collided with a car on South Church Street on Sunday, August 6, 2017
North Adams, Massachusetts
A city man was killed over the weekend after his motorcycle collided with a car on South Church Street.
North Adams Police and first responders were called to the bottom of Wheel Estates, a mobile home community, around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday where they found Justyn Wilk, 67, unresponsive after being thrown from his 2002 Honda Magna motorcycle. Emergency medical personnel performed CPR on the biker, but he died a short time later at the Berkshire Medical Center North Satellite Emergency Facility, according to police.
Investigators say 75-year-old Russell Westfall from North Adams apparently struck Wilk with his 2011 Ford Escape attempting a left turn onto Sterling Drive, the road leading into Wheel Estates, while traveling south; Wilk was headed north on South Church Street.
Westfall was treated for minor injuries at BMC's North Adams complex.
Police believe speed wasn't a factor and no charges have been filed as the crash remains under investigation.
The State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is helping city police figure out what caused the collision. The Adams Police Department and campus police from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts assisted in rerouting traffic away from the accident scene.
