BASTROP, TX : Austin man dies in Bastrop crash on Thursday, 28th March 2019

The Bastrop Police Department has confirmed the identity of a man who died at the scene of a vehicle crash on Monday.

According to Bastrop PD, David Highfill, 62, was driving westbound on State Highway 71 when he crossed the median, drove into oncoming traffic and hit a Chevrolet pickup truck. Highfill was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet truck was taken by air to Dell Seton Medical Center. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation is still ongoing.
