Newport News,VI : Car crashes into apartment building on may, Friday 26th 2017

A man was taken to the hospital after the car he was driving crashed into an apartment building in Hampton Friday morning, an official said.

Firefighters arrived about 10:40 a.m. to the apartment in the 5100 block of Goldsboro Drive and found the car with its front end in the corner of the building, Battalion Chief Jeff Pereira said at the scene. The man driving the car was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, he said.

A resident was inside the home when the building was struck but was not injured, Pereira said.

Firefighters shut off utilities to the building, and the department's technical rescue crews assessed the damage, he said. The city's codes and compliance employees were requested to assess the structure, he said.
