Terre Haute, IN : Rockville woman injured in auto accident in Parke County on Wednesday morning, February 15, 2017

A Rockville woman was seriously injured in a Wednesday morning accident southwest of Mecca in Parke County.

Patricia L. Peterman, 78, was airlifted from the 10 a.m. accident scene to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment.

The Parke County Sheriff's Department reports she was driving north on County Road 600 West north of U.S. 41 near the intersection of County Road 750 West when her 2002 Ford Taurus ran off the right side of the road.

The car struck a deep culvert, pinning the front of the car against the culvert wall. The car teetered on one tire while the rest of the car was suspended in the air.

Police report crews from Lyford Rescue, Mecca Fire and Adams Township Rescue worked with Parke County EMS to get Peterman out of the vehicle.
