Alton, IL : Two injured in a rollover crash on Illinois Route 143 and Lock and Dam Way on Tuesday morning, September 23, 2014

A rollover crash on Illinois Route 143 and Lock and Dam Way on Tuesday morning sent two of three people involved to local hospitals. “All of them got out of the vehicles on their own,” said Battalion Chief Brad Sweetman, of the Alton Fire Department. Just after the 9:45 a.m. crash — involving a turning westbound FedEx truck and eastbound Toyota sport utility vehicle — two off-duty personnel from Alton Memorial Ambulance Service came upon the scene and began treating the victims. Paramedics from the Alton Fire Department and Alton Memorial Ambulance Service arrived shortly thereafter to continue treatment and, the latter, also to provide transportation to occupants of the SUV. Sweetman said paramedics checked out the FedEx driver, who a witness said appeared to be uninjured. Upon impact, the SUV had flipped and landed against the guardrail along the outside, eastbound lane of the highway. None of the identities of the people involved in the crash, their conditions or any traffic citations, were available later Tuesday. Pfc. Emily Hejna, public information officer at the Alton Police Department, said the officer’s report was not complete and could not provide further details. Source : Two injured in crash
