GARDEN CITY, KS : 3 young children hurt, Kansas man jailed on attempted murder, child endangerment after police chase, rollover crash on Monday, 10th December 2018
A 36-year-old Garden City man could face attempted second-degree murder charges after police say he led authorities on a chase and recklessly crashed his vehicle with his three young children inside.
According to Garden City police, officers responded to the 2300 block of Lee Avenue at about 8 p.m. Monday in reference to a civil matter involving a domestic situation between a female, her three young children and the children’s father, The Garden City Telegram reported.
When officers arrived, they saw a vehicle driving away recklessly at a high rate of speed that matched the vehicle description given by the children’s mother, who police say had reported the domestic situation and told officers that the driver of the vehicle was Billy Mondragon, 150 E. Six Mile Road.
Mondragon accelerated to a high rate of speed in an attempt to flee from officers, according to police, and the Finney County Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit into the county.
