Emporia, KS : Injury accident on I-35 on Thursday, January 5th 2017

Emporia Police and ambulance crews responded to I-35, west of the Merchant Street Exit for a one-vehicle injury accident at 9:40 a.m. today.

"Police found 33-year-old Liza Steinkirchner of Olathe had been traveling southbound on I-35 in a Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck when the truck began fishtailing on the roadway" Sage said. "The vehicle struck a guardrail and rolled at least once landing on all four tires.

Steinkirchner, who is eight months pregnant, complained of minor head and shoulder pain. She was transported by ambulance to Newman Regional Health for observation.

"The Emporia Police Department encourages motorists to take their time and stay alert when driving in winter weather," Sage said. "Allow yourself plenty of time and be prepared."
