A 19-month-old child has died of injuries suffered in a weekend ATV crash.

The incident was reported at about 5 p.m. Sunday on Laskey Road in Windham.

Maine game wardens said the boy was injured when the ATV being operated by his father rolled over backwards while going up a hill.

Wardens said the father had two additional children, ages 6 and 4, on the ATV when the crash happened.

The 19-month old was between the front legs of the father and the two other children were behind him on the ATV, wardens said.

Wardens said they do not believe helmets were not being worn at the time of the incident.

The 19-month-old was taken to Maine Medical Center with critical injuries and died on Monday.

The crash remains under investigation.
