Santa Ana ,CA : Boy, 6, dies after being hit by car while skateboarding on Wednesday evening ,july 22nd 2015

6-year-old boy died Wednesday evening after he was struck by a car while riding a skateboard, authorities said.

The boy was riding on a skateboard with a friend at an apartment complex in the 800 block of Fairview Street, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

Shortly before 6 p.m., the boy was hit by a car and taken to UC Irvine Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, Bertagna said. The boy's identity was not released pending notification of his family.
