Macon, GA : Elderly Milledgeville man dies in crash on new stretch of highway on Monday, 24th October 2016
A week after the opening of a new stretch of the Fall Line Freeway in Baldwin County, an 84-year-old man was killed in a collision there.
Stephen Miller, of Milledgeville, was pronounced dead inside the cab of his pickup shortly after the 10:30 a.m. accident Monday, Baldwin County Deputy Coroner Ken Garland said.
Miller was traveling eastbound at the juncture of Stembridge Road and the highwy when he apparently pulled into the path of an 18-wheeler traveling northbound, Garland said.
The driver of the big rig did not initially appear to be seriously injured, although his condition was not immediately known.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the fatal collision.
