Taylor Springs, IL : Two people died after the vehicle struck a tree in Montgomery County on Sunday, December 20, 2015

Two people were killed just south of Taylor Springs in Montgomery County early Sunday when the car they were in went off Illinois 127 and struck a tree, Illinois State Police said.

The names of the 18-year-old woman and 22-year-old man were not immediately released.
State police said the woman was driving a Chevrolet Impala north on Illinois 127, just north of North Seventh Avenue, at 1:55 a.m. when the car veered across the southbound lanes and hit a tree.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Hillsboro Area Hospital, where she was pronounced the dead. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said. The crash remains under investigation.
