Las Vegas, NV : 54-year-old man killed, hit by car crossing street east of Hollywood Boulevard on Monday, February 9, 2015

A pedestrian crossing Lake Mead Boulevard outside a marked crosswalk was hit by a car and killed Monday night, according to Metro Police.

The accident happened shortly before 7 p.m. as the 54-year-old Las Vegas man was crossing the street east of Hollywood Boulevard, police said. He was hit by a 2004 Acura TL that was headed west of Lake Mead, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries and later died, police said. His name was not release, pending notification of family members.

The driver, a 23-year-old Las Vegas man, remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment, police said. Neither the driver nor a 22-year-old passenger in the car was injured, police said.

The accident resulted in the 13th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
