Clarksfield Township , OH : 38- Years old Women was Seriously Injured and Flown to Hospital after she was trapped under a semi-truck following a crash on Tuesday , January 13th 2015

A Wakeman woman was seriously injured late Tuesday after she was trapped under a semi-truck following a crash on Ohio 18.

Kari Stephens, 38, was flown by medical helicopter to Cleveland Metro Hospital and was in critical condition at the time.

Stephens was headed east on Ohio 18, and was also following behind her son, Austyn Stephens, 16, when the crash occurred around 10 p.m. Tuesday

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Norwalk Post is investigating a serious injury crash involving three passenger vehicles and one commercial tractor trailer. The crash occurred on Ohio 18 just west of Chenango Rd. in Clarksfield Township, Huron County at 10:04 p.m. Tuesday night.

Austyn J. Stephens, 16, of Wakeman, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trail Blazer east bound on Ohio 18 in Huron County. Mr. Stephens was wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash and was later treated and released.

Kari L. Stephens, 38, of Wakeman, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu east bound on Ohio 18 that sustained disabling damage and was towed by White’s Automotive. Ms. Stephens sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and had to be extracted from the vehicle with mechanical means by EMS personnel. Ms. Stephens was flown by life-flight to Cleveland Metro Hospital and was in critical condition. Ms. Stephens was wearing her safety belt at the time of the crash
