SHREVEPORT, LA : Caddo deputies investigate fatal crash victim identified on Saturday, 30th September 2023

Caddo Parish deputies are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash in Caddo Parish.

According to officials, just before 10 p.m. Saturday in the 11000 block of Trees City Road, a man was driving in a older model SUV traveling east on Louisiana Highway 2 and crossed the centerline on the north side of the roadway in the curve.

Caddo coroner identified him as James Earl Smith, 66, from Texas. Smith overcorrected, and the vehicle rolled over several times. He was partially ejected and did not have on a seatbelt.

As a result of the crash, Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. No other occupants were in the vehicle.

Investigation is still on going.
