INDEPENDENCE, IA : Independence woman hurt in motorcycle crash on April, Saturday 1st 2017

A woman suffered serious injuries and a motorcycle driver was arrested for drunken driving following a crash in Buchanan County Saturday.

The crash was reported about 4:05 p.m. in the 2000 block of Wapsie Access Boulevard just north of Independence.

According to the investigation by the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Robert J. Turner, 50, of Fayette, was southbound on the road when he lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle tipped onto its side and slid into the ditch. Turner sustained minor injuries that were tended to at the scene.

A passengere, Hillary Lee Hunziker, 31, of Independence, was transported to Buchanan County Health Center in Independence and later transferred by air ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with unspecified injuries, but is expected to survive.
