Lyons, CO : Boulder woman sustained serious injuries after crashing into a car while riding her bike on U.S. 36 on Saturday afternoon October 18th 2014
A Boulder woman sustained "serious injuries" after crashing into a car while riding her bike on U.S. 36 south of Lyons, according to Colorado State Patrol.
The cyclist, Sara Perr, 27, was taken to Longmont United Hospital at about noon on Saturday, Sgt. Rob Madden said. He did not elaborate on the nature of Perr's injuries, except to say that they were severe.
Madden said that Russell Rosh, 52, of Longmont, was driving a compact car westbound on Hygiene Road, and had come to a stop at the intersection of U.S. 36. Perr, who was wearing a helmet and biking northbound on 36, crashed into the side of Rosh's car.
"The driver had come to a complete stop and yielded appropriately, when they were hit by the bicycle. The driver had started from a stop sign, but stopped for a turning vehicle. That's when they were hit by the bicyclist," Madden said.
Initial examination indicated neither Perr nor Rosh had any alcohol or drugs in their system.
